Background
In … 2007 the 1st Beijing Summer Digital Entertainment Jam will occur. It is a summer gathering of digital entertainment enthusiasts from Asia, Europe and the USA to discuss digital entertainment technologies/theories and to experiment with new forms of entertainment contents. Due to rapidly changing media and leisure habits of global consumers, the summer Jam focuses on future entertainment, interactive advertisement, and communication based technologies. It will integrate ‘infotainment’, ‘gamevertisement’, and ‘edutainment’ in a mixed and shared educational environment. It will be the first time that major design schools in China share respective educational resources to support the growth of their faculty and the students. The goals for the Jam are to

Approach:
‘Beijing’s Your Playground’ will be composed of a series of events containing symposiums, workshops, and exhibitions. The workshops include Pervasive Game, Entertainment New Media, Mystery Reality Game, Digital Dynamic Image, Cosplay Costume Design, Body Installation, Wii Interactives, and One Minute Video. As more domestic schools join the Jam, it is expected that more workshops will be added. Many workshops will be conducted in conjunction with industrial partners to realize commercial projects.
The Jam will draw great attention from international and domestic schools and help grow the idea of educational resource sharing. An expected 3500 participants will attend the symposium; 500 faculty and students will participate the workshops; more than 30000 visitors will come to the final exhibition. The Jam will be covered by more than 50 local and international media groups.
